SIMAP details surgical sector challenges to probationary trade officers

September 04, 2026 (MLN): Sialkot's surgical instruments industry's export potential, its contribution to the economy, and the key challenges affecting its international competitiveness came under discussion as the Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP) held an interactive session with probationary officers of the Commerce and Trade Group during their study tour to Sialkot.

SIMAP Chairman Zeshan Tariq, along with the association's executive members, held the meeting with the visiting officers, who were accompanied by officials from the Pakistan Institute of Trade and Development (PITAD) and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), according to APP.

During the session, SIMAP representatives gave the officers a detailed overview of Sialkot's surgical instruments industry, highlighting its export potential and its contribution to the country's economy.

They also briefed participants on the major challenges confronting the sector and the issues affecting its growth and competitiveness in international markets.

The interactive session was followed by a detailed discussion, giving the visiting officers practical insights into the workings of the surgical industry, its export-oriented operations, and possible areas for improvement.

The meeting provided an opportunity for meaningful exchange between industry representatives and government officers, with discussions focused on strengthening the sector, addressing its challenges, and exploring avenues to further enhance the international competitiveness of Sialkot's surgical instruments industry.
