SHC retracts erroneous notice in Hascol–Mena Energy case

November 11, 2025 (MLN): The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued a corrigendum acknowledging that a prohibitory notice related to the Mena Energy DMCC vs Hascol Petroleum Limited case was inadvertently issued under the signature of the Additional Registrar, though it was meant to be issued by the competent court.

The corrigendum, dated November 10, 2025, clarifies that the earlier communication, dated October 29, 2025, had no legal effect and should be treated as cancelled. 

The oversight was admitted in a formal notice addressed to multiple commercial banks, including National Bank of Pakistan, Habib Bank, Faysal Bank, and others.

The correction follows last week’s development, where the Registrar’s Office of the SHC admitted an administrative error that had inadvertently disadvantaged Hascol Petroleum Limited in the ongoing $95 million case filed by Mena Energy DMCC.

In the new corrigendum, the Registrar’s Office expressed regret over the inadvertence, confirming that the previous notice was “supposed to be issued by the competent court, and not by this office.”

The High Court’s clarification effectively nullifies the earlier prohibitory notice that had temporarily impacted Hascol’s standing in the execution proceedings.
