SECP registers record 5,438 new companies in July

August 06, 2026 (MLN): Company incorporations in Pakistan hit an all-time monthly high for the second consecutive time in July 2026, with 5,438 new companies registered the highest tally in the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan's history, following an already record-setting June.

Private companies made up the bulk of registrations at 3,148 (57.9%), followed by 2,117 single-member companies (38.9%), 127 limited liability partnerships (2.3%), 28 non-profit Section 42 companies (0.5%), and 18 public companies and others (0.3%).

Private and single-member companies combined accounted for around 97% of the month's total.

By region, Punjab led with 2,756 new registrations, or 51% of the total, followed by the Islamabad Capital Territory with 1,053 (19%), Sindh with 864 (16%), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 450 (8%), Gilgit-Baltistan with 180 (3%), and Balochistan with 135 (2%).

Information technology remained the leading sector with 1,008 new companies, followed by trading (845), services (638), construction (348), food and beverages (256), tourism (207), e-commerce (181), education (165), real estate development (162), and corporate agricultural farming (145).

Foreign investor interest also continued, with newly incorporated companies drawing directors or shareholders from China (155), the United States (9), Afghanistan (6), South Korea (4), Germany (4), Iran (4), and the United Kingdom (3).

The month's shareholder base totaled 9,591 individuals, of whom 8,318 (87%) were male and 1,273 (13%) were female.
