SECP launches new retirement annuity schemes

March 13, 2026 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has approved a range of new annuity products aimed at providing stable income to individuals after retirement.

The initiative introduces additional financial options for employees to secure regular earnings once they leave the workforce.

According to a press release issued, the newly approved products include life-contingent annuities, deferred annuities, and guaranteed payment annuities.

In addition, hybrid annuity schemes have also been introduced, which are designed to offer both lifetime income and guaranteed payments.

The SECP said the new framework will enable retirees to convert their accumulated savings into a reliable monthly income stream.

It is noted that these products are expected to help address financial pressures arising from inflation and increasing life expectancy.

The annuity products will be available through both conventional insurance and Takaful systems.

The commission added that the move is part of broader efforts to strengthen and modernize Pakistan’s retirement system.
