SECP, Askari Bank complete API integration for faster corporate accounts

September 08, 2026 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and Askari Bank have completed API integration to accelerate the issuance of new corporate accounts and reduce paperwork.

Askari Bank has become Pakistan’s first commercial bank to integrate its systems with SECP’s Corporate Registry.

The integration agreement was signed by SECP Commissioner Muzzaffar Mirza and Askari Bank Group Head Retail Banking Sheikh Rashid Rauf.

SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, commissioners, Askari Bank President & CEO Zia Ejaz and other senior officials attended the signing ceremony.

The new systems integration will enable the bank to receive verified corporate information directly from SECP, reducing manual verification and onboarding time.

Newly registered companies will be able to easily open bank accounts immediately after registration and start commercial activities, SECP said.

The initiative is an important part of the institution’s digitization and ‘Be Ready’ reforms, SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said.

SECP aims to expand similar digital linkages to all other banks and financial institutions in the country.
