SBP reserves fall $229m to $17bn

July 30, 2026 (MLN): The foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) decreased by $228.7 million or 1.33% WoW to $17.03 billion during the week ended on July 24, 2026, data released by State Bank of Pakistan showed on Thursday.

The decline in reserves is due to external debt repayments.

Similarly, the country's total reserves decreased by $227.5m or 1.00% WoW to $22.44bn.

The reserves held by commercial banks rose by $1.2m or 0.02% WoW to $5.41bn.

Meanwhile, the current calendar year has seen an increase of $974.16m or 5.96%.
