Rohri Railway Station set for major modernization

December 16, 2025 (MLN):  Rohri Railway Station is set to undergo a major upgradation, with work expected to be completed by June next year, transforming it into one of the most modern and well-equipped railway stations in Pakistan.

The project, prepared under a comprehensive master plan, will serve over 20,000 passengers daily and elevate Rohri as a key operational junction of Pakistan Railways, said a press release issued.

This came during a meeting chaired by the Federal Minister for Railways, focused on enhancing railway infrastructure and passenger amenities in the Sukkur Railway Division.

Following directives from the Prime Minister, the Railway Minister confirmed that the development projects in Sindh will be carried out in close collaboration with the Chief Minister of Sindh.

The Rohri upgradation will be jointly funded, with 50% of the cost covered by Pakistan Railways and the remaining 50% by the Sindh Government. Tenders for the project are scheduled to be issued this month.

In addition to Rohri, the historic Sukkur Railway Station will be restored to its original aesthetic condition, and Sukkur Express rakes will be refurbished and upgraded.

The Chief Minister of Sindh assured full support for these projects, further emphasizing safety measures including the conversion of unmanned railway crossings into manned ones.

The railway minister also highlighted the importance of food safety, noting that the Sindh Food Authority has been requested to conduct inspections at any time to maintain high standards for passenger.
