Govt raises HSD, petrol prices by over Rs13/litre

July 11, 2026 (MLN): The government has raised the ex-depot prices of High Speed Diesel (HSD) and Motor Spirit (MS) by Rs13.80 and Rs13.18 per litre, respectively, starting July 11, 2026, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Energy's Petroleum Division.

With the revision, the price of HSD has been raised to Rs323.30 per litre from Rs309.50, while MS will now be sold at Rs310.71 per litre against the previous price of Rs297.53.

The increase comes after the government had reduced prices last week, when HSD and MS were brought down to Rs309.50 and Rs297.53 per litre, respectively, from Rs311.47 and Rs299.50.

According to our estimates, the government should have kept prices unchanged or opted for a further decrease.
