July 10, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan's IT exports rose to approximately $4.5bn in FY2025-26, up from $3.475bn in the corresponding period last year, as the country's digital export economy entered a more mature and strategically diversified phase.

Data compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) shows the sector maintained uninterrupted growth through the year.

Beyond traditional software development services, high-growth segments including Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and gaming are scaling rapidly on the global stage, backed by the country's young, cost-competitive and highly skilled workforce serving international clients.

Pakistani small and medium businesses (SMBs) are also moving beyond their traditional reliance on US and European markets, actively expanding into key Asia-Pacific (APAC) hubs such as Japan and Singapore, a shift that is yielding strong results, according to a press release issued.

Nagesh Devata, SVP and Head of APAC at Payoneer, said the momentum reflected sustained global demand for Pakistan's digital services and pointed to a growing industry focus on building resilient, multi-market revenue streams.

However, global expansion also brings added operational complexity, with entry into the Asia-Pacific region requiring adaptation to distinct local payment ecosystems.

Robust financial infrastructure is seen as critical to converting these cross-border logistical challenges into scalable growth opportunities.

Payoneer, the fintech company enabling SMBs worldwide to transact globally, said it was reinforcing its commitment to Pakistani exporters during this transition by offering multi-currency capabilities that allow local businesses to seamlessly receive and manage payments in major global currencies, including the US dollar, euro, British pound, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, Japanese yen and Singapore dollar.
