Pakistan’s GDP rises 3.71% in Q1FY26

December 30, 2025 (MLN):  Pakistan’s GDP grew by 3.71% in the first quarter of 2025-26, marking a 2.15% increase compared to the corresponding quarter of 2024-25.

According to Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal’s post on X, the growth is largely driven by the industrial sector, which expanded by 9.38% in Q1 2025-26, up from a mere 0.12% in Q1 2024-25.

This development indicates a positive shift in the country’s economic trajectory, especially when compared to last year’s performance.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal noted that the economy achieved this growth despite multiple headwinds, including the 2025 flood shock, absorption of fiscal tightening measures, withdrawal of energy subsidies, and rising food inflation.

He described the performance as a qualitative change in the GDP trajectory.

He emphasized that the first quarter of 2025-26 more than doubles the growth of the comparable quarter in 2024-25, which recorded quarterly growth of 1.56%, 2.03%, 2.66%, and 6.17% over the full year.
