Pakistan to launch train service between Saryab and Kuchlak

August 8, 2025 (MLN): The Government of Balochistan, in collaboration with Pakistan Railways, has taken a significant step toward launching the “People’s Train Service” between Saryab and Kuchlak.

The project aims to provide a respectable, affordable, and fast travel option for the people of Balochistan, with practical implementation set to begin soon following the completion of route consultations, according to a press release issued yesterday.

The development was confirmed during a high-level meeting held in Quetta, chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti.He pledged to personally oversee each phase of the project, stressing that no delays would be tolerated.

To support the initiative, the government has decided to procure engines and coaches from Pakistan Railways rather than relying on imports.

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi assured that the required rolling stock and facilities will be made available within six months.

It was also agreed that Pakistan Railways will begin upgrading the existing infrastructure along the route to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The minister described the project as the beginning of a new era in public transportation for the region.
