Pakistan to engage USA in drive for global peace

February 19, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and the United States are set to engage on key diplomatic and global issues while reflecting their shared interests in international stability and cooperation.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

During the visit, he will attend the inaugural Board of Peace meeting and hold high-level discussions with senior US officials on bilateral and global matters of mutual concern, APP reported.

The visit also highlights Pakistan’s growing role in promoting peace and strengthening bilateral relations.

Building on his global outreach, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently visited Austria, where he highlighted the importance of inclusive and equitable development for global peace.

He also stressed that Pakistan, despite minimal emissions, bears a heavy climate burden, citing the 2022 floods, and called for UN reforms, equity, and action on digital divides.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar and UN officials echoed these views, emphasizing the link between peace, sustainable development, and industrialization, while the visit strengthened Pakistan-Austria cooperation on trade, investment, and global peace efforts.
