February 4, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan is pursuing stronger, result-oriented collaboration with UNESCO to enhance climate resilience, marine research, and non-formal education, showed the country’s focus on science-driven solutions for sustainable development.

The Ministry of Science & Technology (MoST) emphasized that this cooperation is part of Pakistan’s long-standing strategic partnership with UNESCO.

The partnership has contributed to advancing science and technology nationally while enabling Pakistan to participate actively in the global scientific community.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi said the partnership is more than a formal engagement, highlighting initiatives such as World Science Day celebrations and national science fairs organized over nearly two decades.

These programs aim to inspire youth, promote science as a tool for development, and strengthen internal research capacities, according to the press release.

Institutions under MoST, including the Pakistan Science Foundation and the National Institute of Oceanography, work closely with UNESCO’s mission to translate research into societal benefits.

The Federal Minister outlined Pakistan’s vision for future collaboration, focusing on climate resilience, advancing marine research to support the Blue Economy under the UN Ocean Decade, and promoting non-formal education initiatives.

Hussain Magsi emphasized the ministry’s commitment to knowledge exchange, empowering researchers and policymakers, and fostering innovation.

He expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to explore new avenues for impactful scientific outcomes, stating that the country looks forward to UNESCO’s support in achieving practical results in science and technology.
