August 10, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and the United States moved to deepen commercial ties as Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh engaged key business leaders across Chicagoland to promote bilateral trade, commercial partnerships, and greater U.S. investment in Pakistan, with particular focus on the high-potential mineral and surgical instrument sectors.

The Ambassador was accompanied by the Consul General of Pakistan in Chicago during the high-level engagements, which began with a breakfast meeting hosted by the Pak American Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce (PACC), where Ambassador Sheikh urged attendees to strengthen business-to-business (B2B) linkages and explore expanding ventures in Pakistan.

PACC President Naveed Anwar briefed the Ambassador on his recent visit to Pakistan as part of a U.S. business delegation, voicing confidence in the country's economic landscape, said a press release issued.

In a separate bilateral meeting, Nadeem Ahmad, President of Miracle Salt Works Collective Inc. (MSCI), briefed Ambassador Sheikh on the company's ongoing $200mn joint venture with the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC), centred on the local crushing, packaging, and global export of high-quality Pakistani pink rock salt.

Ambassador Sheikh described the initiative as a benchmark for value-added, prospectively multi-billion-dollar foreign direct investment in Pakistan's mineral sector.

Continuing the outreach, Ambassador Sheikh visited Phoenix Instruments in Naperville, a major finishing, packaging, and distribution facility for Pakistani-manufactured surgical instruments serving the U.S. healthcare market.

Following a facility tour, company executives discussed strategies for scaling operations, with the Ambassador calling for greater U.S. investment in advanced manufacturing technologies, specialised workforce training, and skill development to help move Pakistan's surgical manufacturing base into higher-value, high-tech segments.

Ambassador Sheikh reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to building sustainable, investment-led economic partnerships with the United States that drive technology transfer, value addition, and mutual commercial growth.
