November 03, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif calling for sustained political engagement and party-to-party exchanges to further deepen the longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries.

The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting with Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), who called on him along with a delegation in Islamabad on Monday.

Highlighting the strength of bilateral ties, Shehbaz Sharif described Pakistan-China relations as an ironclad, time-tested and all-weather partnership rooted in mutual trust, respect and longstanding people-to-people connections.

He acknowledged the IDCPC's contribution to strengthening institutional ties and facilitating cooperation between the political leadership of both countries, according to APP.

The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to working closely with China and emphasised the need to expand cooperation across trade, investment, connectivity, infrastructure development, information technology and agricultural modernisation.

Liu Haixing conveyed the Chinese leadership's greetings to the prime minister and reiterated Beijing's commitment to further strengthening its longstanding friendship with Pakistan.

He also appreciated the progress in high-level engagements and party-to-party exchanges, which continue to support closer bilateral relations.

Both sides also discussed regional and international developments and agreed to maintain close coordination and cooperation at bilateral and multilateral forums.

The prime minister subsequently hosted a banquet in honour of the visiting Chinese minister and his delegation.
