March 30, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan has gained backing
from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Egypt for its efforts to promote peace and
stability in the Middle East, emphasizing the need for urgent action to end
hostilities causing heavy loss of life, property, and economic disruption across
the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a quadrilateral meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Turkish Foreign
Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty to
discuss the situation, APP reported.
During the talks, he conveyed warm regards to Saudi King
Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, appreciated
Saudi Arabia’s restraint, and stressed the importance of unity among Islamic
countries.
All sides agreed to maintain close coordination to advance regional peace and stability.
Furthermore, Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic efforts to
mediate between Iran and the United States, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
reiterating Islamabad’s readiness to help bring both sides to the negotiating
table amid escalating Middle East hostilities.
Pakistan’s mediation push comes at a time when geopolitical
tensions in the Middle East have entered a critical phase, with global markets
closely monitoring developments due to their direct impact on crude oil supply,
inflation trajectories, and external account pressures for energy-importing
countries like Pakistan.
