Pakistan secures $763m external financing in July 2026

August 28, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan received $763.03 million in foreign economic assistance in July 2026, the opening month of FY2026‑27, according to the latest monthly disbursement report by the Economic Affairs Division (EAD).
Disbursements from bilateral and multilateral development
partners totalled $272.43m during the month, while a $246.67m tranche under the
Naya Pakistan Certificate (NPC) Islamic facility was the single largest inflow
of July.
Foreign assistance through multilateral sources amounted to
$252.83 million in July. The International Development Association (IDA) was
the leading multilateral donor, disbursing $130.65 million during the month,
followed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at $59.17 million.
The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(IBRD) contributed $29.22m, while the Islamic Development Bank's short-term
facility, IsDB (ST), added $22.71m.
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) disbursed
$6.57 million, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) $1.75m, the International
Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) $2.00m, and the OPEC Fund $0.76m.
Bilateral development partners contributed $19.60m in July.
Germany was the leading bilateral donor at $9.94m, followed by Saudi Arabia at
$7.42m, France at $1.30m, and Japan at $0.94 million.
Separately, China disbursed $146.62m under a
sovereign-guaranteed loan for the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant-5 (C-5) project.
Foreign commercial borrowing through the Naya Pakistan
Certificate (NPC) scheme totalled $343.99m in July, comprising $97.32 million
under the conventional facility and $246.67m under the Islamic facility.
On a purposewise basis, non-project aid in July amounted to
$432.73 million, including $343.99m in budgetary support and $22.71m under the
IsDB short-term facility, reflecting continued reliance on programme-based
inflows. Project-based disbursements stood at $330.30m during the month.
