June 25, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan reaffirmed its strong commitment to advancing ongoing China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister extended warm greetings and best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, while also expressing hope for the successful convening of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in China.

In their discussions, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted major projects under CPEC, including the ML-I railway upgrade, realignment of the Karakoram Highway, and the operationalization of Gwadar Port.

He also pointed to increasing collaboration in the agriculture, industrial, and IT sectors as central to the evolving strategic partnership, according to the press release issued today.

Emphasizing the enduring "All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership" between the two nations, the Prime Minister thanked China for its consistent financial and economic support.

He noted that this support has significantly contributed to stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and improving its macroeconomic outlook.

The meeting also covered regional developments, particularly the Iran-Israel conflict.

The Chinese Ambassador commended Pakistan’s proactive and constructive role on the international stage, especially at forums like the United Nations Security Council, in advocating for peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.

Ambassador Jiang briefed the Prime Minister on the current status of Pak-China bilateral cooperation and confirmed that preparations are underway for the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to China, scheduled for the end of August this year.
