July 31, 2026 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan's
resolve to further deepen its brotherly relations with Azerbaijan, pointing to
the frequent high-level exchanges between the two sides over the past two and a
half years as evidence of the strength of the partnership.
The prime minister made these remarks during a farewell meeting with
Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, at the PM Office.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and
Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch were also present, APP reported.
PM Shehbaz said he was confident that the strong foundation built during
Ambassador Farhadov's tenure would continue to shape the trajectory of
bilateral ties going forward.
He lauded the envoy's role in broadening cooperation across political,
trade, economic, defence, cultural and people-to-people fronts, specifically
citing the launch of direct flights between the two countries as a key
achievement.
Extending his regards to President Ilham Aliyev, the prime minister
recalled his several visits to Azerbaijan over the past two and a half years,
along with President Aliyev's visit to Pakistan in July 2024.
He wished the outgoing envoy continued success in his future endeavours.
Ambassador Farhadov, in turn, thanked the prime minister for the
hospitality and cooperation extended to him during his posting, calling his
tenure in Pakistan a cherished chapter of his diplomatic career.
He reaffirmed Azerbaijan's continued commitment to deepening its
strategic partnership with Pakistan and presented the prime minister with a
book documenting his family's experiences of living in the country.
