September 10, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan has set up a dedicated pavilion at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2026 in Beijing, providing Pakistani businesses an avenue to engage with Chinese companies and explore opportunities in trade, investment and services.

The pavilion was inaugurated on Wednesday by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, who highlighted the government’s efforts to attract Chinese investment across 21 priority sectors, according to APP.

Khalil Hashmi said Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing, along with its four consulates across China, had organized six major business-to-business (B2B) investment conferences focused on sectors including agriculture, home appliances and electrical equipment, IT and telecom, battery energy storage, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and healthcare.

These initiatives have generated investment commitments of around $22bn through more than 650 memoranda of understanding (MOUs), according to the ambassador.

He added that nearly 30% of these MOUs have progressed into agreements, contracts, factories or plants, with approximately $7bn already materialized.

The ambassador said Pakistan’s next focus would be to strengthen direct business-to-business engagement between companies of the two countries.

He noted that the Pakistan-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China was nearing formal establishment, while work was also underway to establish a Pakistan-China Commercial Center in Beijing’s Fengtai District to support Pakistani businesses.

More than 25 Pakistani companies from agriculture, energy, infrastructure, services and healthcare are participating in CIFTIS 2026.

A dedicated business conference is scheduled for Friday on the sidelines of the fair, bringing Pakistani and Chinese companies together to identify potential areas of cooperation, CEN reported.

Hashmi said the Pakistan Pavilion would further facilitate connections between businesses from both countries and contribute to expanding bilateral commercial relations.

“This is a great beginning, but it is a long way to go. We have more hard work ahead of us,” he said, stressing the need for continued engagement between businesses and institutions in Pakistan and China.
