Pakistan operationalizes PSW integration with Hong Kong’s ValidAP

September 28, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan has operationalized the integration of its Pakistan Single Window (PSW) with Hong Kong’s ValidAP platform, enabling digital verification of electronic trade documents without transmitting or storing the underlying documents or their sensitive information.
The integration became operational on September 25, 2026,
according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
ValidAP, developed and hosted by Hong Kong’s Customs and
Excise Department, is a blockchain-based platform designed to verify the
authenticity and integrity of electronic trade documents through cryptographic
technology, according to APP.
Under the system, a unique digital fingerprint, or “hash,”
is generated for an electronic document. Authorities can then use the
fingerprint to verify whether the document is genuine and has remained
unchanged, without requiring the document itself to be shared with or stored on
the verification platform.
The development follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed
between Pakistan Customs and Hong Kong’s Customs and Excise Department on May
18, 2026, under which Pakistan Customs joined the ValidAP platform.
Pakistan is the first country to join ValidAP, while the PSW
integration represents the country’s first implementation of ValidAP-based
digital document verification, APP reported.
The integration is expected to reduce dependence on
paper-based verification and support faster processing of international trade
documentation by enabling electronic documents to be independently
authenticated.
It also connects Pakistan’s digital trade infrastructure
with a regional platform for trusted electronic document verification,
supporting interoperability in cross-border trade.
Through the system, the original document and its sensitive
information remain with the relevant parties, while its cryptographic
fingerprint can be used to verify the document’s authenticity and integrity.
The development is part of Pakistan’s ongoing digitization
of customs and trade processes through PSW, which provides a single digital
platform for trade-related regulatory requirements.
The operationalization of the ValidAP integration marks a
step toward digitally verifiable trade documentation between Pakistan and
international trading partners while maintaining the confidentiality of
underlying commercial information.
