September 17, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan High Commission in London hosted a Pakistan Investment Roundtable, bringing together leading investors and global financial management firms to discuss investment opportunities, economic reforms, and the country’s evolving investment landscape.

Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb participated as the keynote speaker, while Governor State Bank of Pakistan Jamil Ahmed, Finance Minister’s Advisor Khurram Schehzad, and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK Tipu Usman also attended the event.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb said the Government of Pakistan remained focused on strengthening macroeconomic stability while pursuing a path toward sustainable economic growth.

He said the government was implementing a structural reform agenda aimed at creating a more enabling environment for the private sector.

The Finance Minister highlighted progress on fiscal consolidation, including the achievement of a primary surplus, reduction in the fiscal deficit, stronger revenue mobilization, and continued institutional and fiscal reforms.

He said the government was pursuing reforms in state-owned enterprises alongside the privatization process. According to the minister, reforms in the energy sector, greater financial transparency, and improvements in the ease of doing business would further support the government’s objective of maintaining macroeconomic stability.

Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the need to broaden the tax base and strengthen enforcement to support economic growth. He said discretionary powers available to tax authorities had been eliminated and that taxation was being applied without preferential treatment. He added that no additional taxes had been imposed on the salaried class.

The Finance Minister noted that Pakistan’s economy had faced setbacks from last year’s countrywide floods and the recent conflict in the Middle East, which has contributed to higher global oil prices.

He said Pakistan remained open for business and was witnessing renewed interest from international investors. He also highlighted that the country had completed all IMF reviews on schedule, with the progress supported by three rating upgrades.

The event also featured an interactive question-and-answer session, during which Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb engaged representatives of financial institutions on Pakistan’s economic outlook, investment environment, collaboration with international organizations, and potential opportunities across different sectors.
