Pakistan nears financial close on Reko Diq project

October 19, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan is close to achieving the financial close of the Reko Diq project, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, told the senior management of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) during a meeting held on the sidelines of the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington D.C.

As part of the sixth and final day of his visit, the Minister discussed Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to diversify its financing sources, including the upcoming launch of the Panda Bond and the revitalization of the Global Medium-Term Note (GMTN) program.

He also shared progress on the government’s privatization drive, expressing optimism about the accelerated advancement in the privatization of the national carrier.

The Finance Minister encouraged ADCB to explore direct exposure opportunities in Pakistan and to play a more active role in facilitating trade and investment flows.

He further highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening financial cooperation with UAE-based institutions and welcomed potential collaboration involving the EXIM Bank in major projects.
