Pakistan joins ministerial meeting on Jerusalem

August 05, 2026 (MLN): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar departed for Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday to participate in a ministerial meeting on Jerusalem, scheduled to be held on Thursday.

Ishaq Dar is visiting Jordan at the invitation of Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi.

The meeting will bring together the foreign ministers of Arab League member states and a group of Islamic countries, including Pakistan, to develop a coordinated position on the rapidly worsening situation in occupied Jerusalem.

During the visit, the participating foreign ministers will also meet Jordan's Abdullah II of Jordan, according to Radio Pakistan.

According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar will reiterate Pakistan's unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate cause.

He will also reaffirm Pakistan's longstanding position in favour of an independent, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Ishaq Dar is expected to hold bilateral meetings with participating foreign ministers to discuss regional and international developments and strengthen diplomatic coordination on issues of mutual interest.
