July 22, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and China moved to deepen agricultural cooperation as FAMSUN Group was invited to set up a modern network of high-tech silos across the country to curb post-harvest losses and strengthen food security.

The Chinese firm was also urged to explore local manufacturing and assembly of advanced agricultural machinery in Pakistan, alongside a proposal to build a pilot demonstration silo at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) that could serve as a training and research model.

The discussion took place during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain with a FAMSUN delegation led by its Chief Executive Officer, Jack Chen, according to a press release issued.

The Minister termed Pakistan-China ties as entering a new phase built around industrial collaboration, innovation and value addition, and credited FAMSUN for nearly two decades of support to the country's feed milling, grain handling and food processing industries, calling on the company to deepen its footprint through long-term investment and strategic partnerships.

Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistan's ambitions extend beyond infrastructure, pointing to technology transfer, local manufacturing, capacity building, research collaboration and job creation as central pillars of the partnership being sought.

He placed particular emphasis on human resource development, calling for expanded training for Pakistani scientists, researchers, technicians and agricultural graduates through closer academic and technical linkages with Chinese institutions.

The two sides took up several areas of potential collaboration, including modern grain storage systems, expansion of agri-processing infrastructure, modernization of the livestock feed sector, and adoption of advanced technologies to lift productivity.

The Minister also asked FAMSUN to dispatch a technical team to PARC to evaluate existing infrastructure and identify openings for further cooperation.

For its part, the FAMSUN delegation welcomed the government's push toward agricultural modernization and investment facilitation, and outlined the company's experience with intelligent agriculture and grain storage technology deployed across multiple markets, signaling readiness to collaborate with Pakistan in areas of shared interest.

Both sides agreed to stay engaged in developing concrete cooperation proposals centered on innovation, technology transfer, research and sustainable agricultural development, with the meeting closing on an affirmation of the broader Pakistan-China partnership.
