July 17, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Egypt should move beyond conventional trade and view each other as long-term strategic investment partners, with bilateral relations transformed into a stronger economic partnership based on trade, investment, joint production, technology cooperation and regional value chains, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan said.

Addressing a reception held in Islamabad to celebrate the National Day of the Arab Republic of Egypt as chief guest, he said Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Egypt, which remained a key partner in the Arab and Muslim world.

He appreciated Egypt's support in the health sector, its constructive role in promoting regional peace and its cooperation in facilitating Pakistan's humanitarian assistance to Gaza, according to the press release.

He noted that Egypt offered a strong manufacturing and distribution base for African, Arab and Mediterranean markets, while Pakistan provided a major production and investment platform linked to South Asia.

"Together, Pakistan and Egypt can develop joint value chains, create employment opportunities, strengthen industrial capacity and expand exports," he said.

He welcomed Egyptian investment in Pakistan's power, real estate, financial services and telecommunications sectors, adding that Pakistani companies were also increasingly exploring business and investment opportunities in Egypt.

He invited greater Egyptian participation in Pakistan's food, agriculture and textile exhibitions, including FoodAg Pakistan 2026, and said Pakistan looked forward to participating in Food Africa 2026 in Egypt from December 7 to 10.

He also welcomed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's acceptance of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's invitation to visit Pakistan, saying the visit would further strengthen bilateral relations.

He said Pakistan regarded Egypt as a strategic economic partner and an important regional production hub, adding that both countries could jointly promote investment, industrial development, connectivity, regional value chains and shared prosperity.

Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan said Egypt and Pakistan enjoyed a deep, longstanding and multifaceted friendship rooted in mutual respect, shared values and strong fraternal bonds between their peoples.

He said bilateral relations had gained significant momentum over the past two years through high-level exchanges, including visits by Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty to Pakistan and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar to Egypt.

He said these engagements had strengthened political consultations and expanded cooperation in key strategic sectors, adding that Egypt highly valued its strategic partnership with Pakistan and looked forward to translating the positive momentum into practical achievements through stronger trade, business cooperation and closer institutional engagement.

He also praised the warmth, generosity and hospitality of the Pakistani people, saying these qualities reflected the enduring friendship between Egypt and Pakistan.
