Pakistan cotton arrivals jump 77% to 528,000 bales

August 04, 2026 (MLN): Cotton arrivals in factories across Pakistan reached 527,900 bales as of July 15, 2026, up 77.30% compared to 297,751 bales in the same period last year, according to data released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners' Association (PCGA).
Of the total arrivals, 466,925 bales have been pressed into
cotton bales, while 445,779 bales have been sold including 444,379 bales
purchased by textile mills and 1,400 bales by exporters/traders. No bales were
purchased under the TCP category.
Unsold stock stood at 21,146 bales, while 60,975 bales
remained unginned, compared to 36,892 bales in the corresponding period last
year.
Punjab recorded arrivals of 201,497 bales, up 38.87% from
145,101 bales a year earlier. Of this, 177,639 bales were pressed and 164,974
bales sold, comprising 163,974 bales to textile mills and 1,000 bales to
exporters/traders.
The province held unsold stock of 12,665 bales and unginned
stock of 23,858 bales.
Sindh posted a sharper increase, with arrivals climbing
113.82% year-on-year to 326,403 bales against 152,650 bales last year. Pressing
stood at 289,286 bales, while 280,805 bales were sold 280,405 bales to textile
mills and 400 bales to exporters/traders. Unsold stock in the province stood at
8,481 bales, with 37,117 bales unginned.
District-wise, Sanghar in Sindh led all arrivals with
280,393 bales, up 115.63% year-on-year, followed by Vehari in Punjab with
41,367 bales, up 21.85%, and Dera Ghazi Khan with 36,340 bales, marking an
87.35% increase.
Khanewal recorded 32,521 bales, up 12.82%, while Bahawalpur
and Layyah posted 16,686 bales and 14,993 bales, up 118.12% and 277.66%,
respectively.
In Sindh, Hyderabad followed Sanghar with 14,910 bales, up
51.94%, while Mirpur Khas (Tharparkar) recorded 12,200 bales, up 139.22%.
Baluchistan, reported separately under the Sindh total, contributed 9,700
bales, up 90.20% year-on-year.
Some districts recorded a decline in arrivals. Rajanpur
registered 7,885 bales, down 14.29%, while T.T. Singh posted 11,550 bales, down
0.47%. Muzaffar Garh recorded no arrivals against 2,120 bales last year, a
decline of 100%.
A total of 218 ginning factories were operational during the
period, including 111 in Punjab and 107 in Sindh.
Total unsold stock across the country stood at 82,121 bales,
compared to 47,771 bales in the corresponding period last year, reflecting the
sharp rise in overall arrivals this season.
