April 15, 2026 (MLN):  Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, has stressed that diplomacy remains an ongoing “process, not an event,” as Pakistan continues its engagement with international partners amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.

He said sustained dialogue is the only viable path forward and expressed cautious optimism over recent diplomatic progress, he noted that even complex conflicts require continuous engagement rather than fixed timelines, in an interview to CNBC.

He highlighted that recent face-to-face U.S.–Iran talks held in Islamabad marked a significant breakthrough after a gap of 50 years, adding that the efforts over the weekend were acknowledged by both sides.

Finance minister Aurangzeb said the continuation of the ceasefire is crucial, while noting that it is difficult to predict exact timelines for further rounds of negotiations, though discussions between Washington and Tehran remain ongoing.

On the economic side, he added that Pakistan’s fuel and oil reserves are currently sufficient to meet domestic demand through the end of the month and into the next.

He also highlighted that the broader conflict is disrupting global energy supply chains, affecting countries not directly involved, including Pakistan, which relies heavily on imported fuel.
