January 21, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and global payments giant Visa are deepening ties to accelerate digital adoption, financial inclusion, and innovation in the country’s economy.

The discussions focused on fostering secure, scalable digital payment solutions and supporting Pakistan’s transition toward a modern, digitally enabled financial ecosystem, according to a press release issued.

On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with Visa Group President Oliver Jenkyn to explore avenues for strengthened collaboration.

Senator Aurangzeb highlighted the government’s commitment to building robust digital infrastructure, enhancing regulatory frameworks, and creating an enabling environment for innovation, while emphasizing policy clarity and consistent reforms as key to expanding financial inclusion.

Mr. Jenkyn reaffirmed Visa’s long-term commitment to Pakistan, underscoring the company’s interest in supporting innovation, secure payment solutions, and knowledge transfer.

He also pointed to the global shift toward digital payments, the importance of resilient platforms, and the value of strong partnerships between governments and private sector players.

Rising tourism and cross-border activity were identified as additional opportunities for expanding international payment solutions.

Both sides agreed on the need for ongoing engagement to deliver practical, market-ready solutions in Pakistan’s evolving digital finance landscape.

Visa expressed its readiness to be a trusted partner in policy and reform initiatives, supporting the country’s vision of becoming a fully “Digital Nation.”
