February 10, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in key sectors including food and agriculture, mining, information technology, tourism, health and banking, as both countries seek to enhance trade and strengthen long-standing brotherly ties.

Pakistan also welcomed Uzbekistan’s interest in importing halal meat, fruits and potatoes, describing it as a positive step toward boosting economic relations.

The two sides reiterated their shared resolve to promote peace, stability and development through continued collaboration and effective follow-up on recent high-level engagements.

The understanding was highlighted during a meeting in Islamabad between President Asif Ali Zardari and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, who conveyed a letter from Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, said a press release issued.

President Zardari thanked President Mirziyoyev for his message of solidarity following the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad and emphasized the importance of implementing outcomes of Mirziyoyev’s recent state visit to Pakistan.

In his letter, the Uzbek president expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended during his visit and for being awarded the Nishan-e-Pakistan, along with honorary academic distinctions.

Ambassador Tukhtaev also informed the president of Uzbekistan’s plan to develop Babar Park in Islamabad’s F-7 sector, adding that a senior Uzbek minister is expected to visit Pakistan next week to discuss the project with relevant authorities
