January 09, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and the United Kingdom explored avenues for strengthening youth engagement, overseas employment opportunities, and bilateral cooperation during discussions held in London.

The focus remained on expanding youth-focused initiatives and developing mechanisms to link overseas Pakistani youth with national development efforts.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Muhammad Faisal, discussed these matters with Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan, according to APP.

Discussions also covered ways to strengthen connections between young Pakistanis abroad and government-led programmes.

The Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme emphasized that engagement of overseas youth would reinforce Pakistan’s national youth agenda and help bridge diaspora youth with state institutions.

Plans for organizing an Overseas Pakistani Youth Convention were also reviewed, aimed at creating structured platforms for diaspora youth engagement.

The High Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and acknowledged the Chairman’s outreach to various Pakistani youth organizations in the United Kingdom.

The Chairman, in turn, lauded the proactive role of the Pakistan High Commission in London in facilitating youth-related initiatives.

The Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom, focusing on international youth cooperation, skill development, and overseas employment opportunities.

As part of the visit, engagements are planned with the Commonwealth Secretariat, British e-sports organizations, other youth-focused institutions, and Pakistani students studying at leading British universities.

The progress is underway between Pakistan and the United Kingdom to create new overseas employment opportunities for Pakistani youth, which could further enhance bilateral cooperation in the coming months.
