Pakistan, UAE to introduce pre immigration clearance for travelers

January 13, 2026 (MLN):  Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have reached an agreement to implement a pre-immigration clearance system, that allows passengers traveling from Pakistan to complete immigration procedures before departure and skip queues upon arrival in the UAE.

Karachi has been chosen as the pilot site for the initiative, APP reported

The deal was finalized during talks between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a UAE delegation headed by Director General of Customs and Port Security Ahmed bin Lahij Al Falasi.

Minister Naqvi highlighted that the system would save travelers significant time and improve their airport experience, allowing them to exit UAE airports as if arriving domestically.

The UAE delegation welcomed the plan, noting its benefits for citizens of both countries and pledging full support for its rollout.

Both nations agreed to continue working together to finalize the administrative and technical framework for the pilot phase, with potential expansion to other airports in Pakistan in the future.

Also present were Executive Director Digital Transformation Juma Abdullah Al-Qabi, Executive Director Airports Hammad Saif Al-Mashghouni, and other senior officials.

Pakistan’s side included Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha.
