February 12, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and Türkiye’s Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBİTAK) have funded 33 joint research projects since the 2013 MoU.

These projects span energy, biotechnology, biomedical technologies, advanced materials, artificial intelligence, IoT, electric vehicles, food technologies, and oceanography

These projects, introduced through four joint calls that attracted 270 proposals, are strengthening Pakistan’s research capacity, developing skilled human capital, fostering innovation, and enabling knowledge transfer between the two countries, according to the press release.

The cooperation forms part of a broader Pakistan Türkiye partnership in science and technology coordinated by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST).

Beyond joint research, collaboration extends to halal certification through the Pakistan Halal Authority–HAK partnership, enhancing Pakistan’s global halal trade competitiveness.

It also covers legal and scientific metrology, improving national quality and measurement infrastructure; and standardization via the PSQCA–TSE partnership, supporting harmonized standards for international market access.

MoST Secretary Shahid Iqbal Baloch said these projects deliver tangible results aligned with national development priorities and connect Pakistani researchers and institutions with leading global innovation ecosystems.

He emphasized that MoST is systematically building international scientific partnerships that support industrial modernization, innovation-driven growth, and knowledge-based economic development.

The Turkish delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Muhammet Kasım Gönüllü and Ambassador İrfan Neziroğlu, commended Pakistan’s institutional strength, continuity of engagement, and results-focused cooperation model.

Both sides expressed confidence in expanding collaboration into emerging and frontier technologies, advanced research, innovation ecosystems, technology commercialization, and science-based entrepreneurship.

Future plans include scaling cooperation, launching new joint initiatives, and strengthening strategic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye in science and technology, reinforcing the long-term objective of building a resilient, knowledge-driven economy.
