The discussions took place during a meeting between Federal
Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and Saudi
Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Rajeh Tami Albugamy, who called on the minister to
discuss economic cooperation and shared priorities.
Muhammad Aurangzeb highlighted Pakistan’s progress in
restoring macroeconomic stability, citing improvements in foreign exchange
reserves and inflation, along with recent credit-rating upgrades by
international agencies.
He also highlighted Pakistan’s return to international
capital markets through a recent $3 billion Eurobond issuance and its access to
China’s capital market, stressing the need to build on these gains to
strengthen investor confidence and promote sustainable, investment-led growth.
The finance minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to
structural reforms and maintaining a stable and predictable investment
environment to attract domestic and foreign investors.
The Saudi ambassador underscored the longstanding
relationship between the two countries, founded on shared faith, history,
mutual trust and respect. He noted that stronger business-to-business
engagement could deepen people-to-people ties and generate mutually beneficial
economic opportunities.
Both sides stressed the need to convert shared economic
priorities into tangible results by strengthening commercial engagement and
pursuing investment opportunities across key sectors.
The meeting also covered the regional situation and ongoing
conflict, with both sides emphasising the importance of peace, stability and
cooperation to address emerging challenges and protect regional economic
prospects.
Muhammad Aurangzeb also highlighted Pakistan’s strategic
geographical position and its potential to serve as a regional trade and
transit hub, supporting connectivity and broader economic cooperation.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to strengthening their strategic partnership and expanding trade and investment ties through continued engagement.
