Pakistan Railways earns Rs26bn in first quarter

September 28, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan Railways earned Rs26 billion during the first quarter, prompting Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi to appreciate the administration’s performance while directing officials to accelerate infrastructure and operational improvements.
Abbasi chaired a meeting in Lahore on Sunday and directed all divisional superintendents to ensure implementation of recommendations concerning railway tracks by October 20, according to Radio Pakistan.
The minister also ordered officials to ensure timely completion of ongoing development projects across railway divisions.
The directions place particular emphasis on railway track-related recommendations, with divisional administrations required to complete the prescribed actions within the given deadline.
Abbasi also took strict notice of overloading at railway weighbridges and directed authorities to take immediate action on complaints involving overloading.
The minister’s directives cover both infrastructure and operational issues as the railway administration works to improve performance while maintaining revenue growth.
During the meeting, Abbasi expressed satisfaction over Pakistan Railways’ financial performance and appreciated the administration for generating Rs26 billion in revenue during the first quarter.
The minister also directed divisional officials to maintain close oversight of development work and address operational complaints promptly.
