May 08, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Qatar have reaffirmed their shared commitment to regional peace and stability, pledging continued diplomatic coordination on all issues of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif spoke over the phone with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, in a warm and cordial exchange.

During the call, both leaders discussed the current regional situation and recalled PM Shehbaz's recent visit to Doha on April 16, during which he met Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and other Qatari leadership to build consensus around ongoing peace efforts, APP reported.

PM Shehbaz conveyed that the people of Pakistan eagerly awaited the Amir of Qatar's visit at his earliest convenience, noting that such a visit would further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.

The Qatari Prime Minister expressed deep appreciation for Pakistan's continued efforts to bring peace and stability to the region, assuring that Qatar would stand firmly behind Pakistan's diplomatic push to secure the security and stability of the Middle East.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close communication and coordination going forward.

Parallel to this , Pakistan has rejected the most competitively priced bids in a recent liquefied natural gas procurement drive, passing over offers from BP Singapore and TotalEnergies that came in at $17.2848 and $16.98 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) respectively, the two lowest among seven submissions received. The bids were rejected on expectation that situation in Middle East would improve, leading to opening of Strait of Hormuz, restoring  Qatari supplies.
