May 14, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan has expressed gratitude to Qatar for its timely facilitation in ensuring uninterrupted LNG supplies during a critical period marked by congestion in the Strait of Hormuz and surging summer power demand.

Two LNG cargoes have successfully reached Pakistan as a result of close bilateral coordination, with both sides agreeing to maintain strong collaboration to secure stable and reliable energy supplies going forward, according to a press release issued.

The appreciation was conveyed during a meeting between Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and Qatar's Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali bin Mubarak Al-Khater, at the Petroleum Division, where discussions also focused on future energy cooperation and strategic storage arrangements.

The Minister noted that he had remained in constant contact with Qatar's Minister of Energy,  Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, coordinating closely on LNG vessel movements throughout the period.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan's preference is to secure energy supplies from friendly nations through proper approvals, without endangering lives or property, and added that efforts are ongoing to secure additional gas supplies in line with national energy requirements.

Ambassador Al-Khater reaffirmed Qatar's unwavering support for Pakistan, stating that Doha has directed him to extend all possible facilitation to Islamabad in meeting its energy needs, a reflection of the deep-rooted ties between the leadership of both nations.

The Ambassador also expressed appreciation for Pakistan's constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.

Minister Malik noted that ongoing regional tensions emphasizes the urgent need for a robust energy security framework.

He stated that under the Prime Minister's leadership, the government is formulating a comprehensive Energy Security Policy aimed at strengthening Pakistan's resilience against external disruptions and future supply shocks.
