September 16, 2025 (MLN): Mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Iran can take the regional economy to new heights, said Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan while addressing the Pak–Iran Business Forum in Tehran.

He thanked Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzana Sadiq for extending exemplary hospitality, noting that people of both countries would directly benefit from the activation of border markets, including the Mand Pishin sustenance market.

Khan invited Iranian companies to participate in the Pakistan Agriculture Expo scheduled for November and highlighted investment opportunities under Pakistan’s five-year “Uraan Pakistan” programme.

He emphasized that the historic friendship between the two nations would now be transformed into economic history.

In her remarks, Minister Farzana Sadiq stressed that the economies of Pakistan and Iran could together serve as a hub of regional development.

She expressed keen interest in joint projects in pharmaceuticals, engineered products and ceramics, while reiterating the commitment to achieving the $10bn bilateral trade target.

She also extended condolences over the loss of lives in Pakistan’s recent floods.

At the forum, both sides agreed to enhance bilateral trade, address customs and tariff barriers and strengthen technical cooperation.

Discussions also focused on establishing joint economic zones, expanding collaboration in agriculture and exploring new areas of trade and investment.
