Pakistan, Iran step up efforts to boost bilateral trade volume

February 09, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Iran reiterated their commitment to increasing the volume of bilateral trade and deepening economic cooperation, emphasizing sustained engagement, trade facilitation, and the removal of bottlenecks in line with the vision and directives of the top leadership of both countries.

This understanding was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Dr. Seyed Ali Madanizadeh, held on the sidelines of the AlUla Conference 2026 for Emerging Market Economies.

The two sides discussed avenues to strengthen trade relations and expand economic collaboration, said a press release issued.

During the talks, the Iranian side highlighted several sector-specific investment and market collaboration opportunities aimed at generating mutually beneficial outcomes and further deepening economic ties, which Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb welcomed.

The Iranian Minister also invited Senator Aurangzeb to visit Iran, an invitation that was reciprocated with an invitation to visit Islamabad.
