Pakistan, ITFC agree technical teams to explore pricing for remaining financing tranche

October 15, 2026 (MLN): Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) have agreed that their technical teams will explore adjustments to pricing and financing volumes for the remaining financing tranche, as Pakistan seeks to align its borrowing costs with improved market conditions.

The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue met ITFC Chief Executive Officer Engineer Adeeb Y Al Aama on the sidelines of the World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, to discuss financing cooperation and trade development, said a press release issued.

Senator Aurangzeb pointed to Pakistan’s economic progress, stronger reserves and renewed access to international capital markets.

Both sides reviewed the remaining tranche, and the technical teams will work towards a solution acceptable to both.

He also outlined efforts to replace costly short-term borrowing with longer-maturity financing without adding to external debt.

The talks further covered digital product passports to support textile exports to the European Union, and single-window connectivity to ease trade with ASEAN countries.

Both sides reaffirmed their long-term partnership and their commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s export competitiveness.
