Pakistan, GCC agree to deepen cooperation at UNGA

September 23, 2025 (MLN):  Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening multifaceted cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly session.

During the meeting, Dar emphasized the importance Pakistan attaches to its ties with the GCC and stressed the need to expand institutional linkages with member states of the Council, according to APP.

Both sides discussed avenues for enhanced collaboration across various sectors and agreed to further solidify their longstanding partnership.

Separately, Dar also participated in a Special OIC High-Level Event on the “Promotion of a Culture of Peace and Tolerance” at the UN Headquarters.

Speaking on the occasion, he underlined the universal relevance of the Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace Be Upon Him) teachings on justice, consultation, peaceful conflict resolution and tolerance, noting their resonance with the principles of the UN Charter.

He also called on the OIC to intensify efforts in addressing contemporary challenges such as Palestine, Kashmir and rising Islamophobia, stressing that these injustices undermine global peace and stability.
