January 30, 2026 (MLN):

Pakistan and Egypt have agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the health sector, focused on pharmaceuticals, capacity building, and collaboration at international health platforms.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to advancing initiatives that benefit the populations of Pakistan and Egypt.

The development was discussed during a meeting between the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Pakistan and Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal, where both sides exchanged views on areas of mutual interest and reviewed progress in existing collaborations.

They also explored avenues for further expanding cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector and health system capacity building, according to the press release.

The federal health minister said Pakistan and Egypt share strong, longstanding, and brotherly relations rooted in mutual respect and shared values.

He noted that cooperation in the health sector has emerged as a key pillar of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Egyptian ambassador described collaboration in the health sector as an important and enduring dimension of Pakistan Egypt relations.

He also highlighted the close coordination between the two countries at international forums, particularly the World Health Organization (WHO).

Minister Kamal lauded Egypt’s engagement at the 159th session of the WHO, where it presented two resolutions focusing on Precision Medicine and Fatty Liver Disease, and praised Egypt’s initiatives in these critical areas of global health.

He also appreciated Pakistan’s support for both resolutions, noting that these efforts are timely, forward-looking, and aligned with global health priorities.

The federal minister additionally acknowledged Egypt’s cooperation in the provision of medicines for the prevention and treatment of hepatitis.

He noted that Egypt’s successful efforts in combating Hepatitis C serve as a role model for Pakistan’s own disease elimination drive.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the health sector for the mutual benefit of the people of Pakistan and Egypt.
