Pakistan, DP World expand trade, logistics ties

January 29, 2026 (MLN): Recent inter-governmental agreements between Pakistan and DP World show a strong commitment to expanding collaboration on logistics, port operations, and infrastructure development.

Discussions during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and DP World Group Chairman and CEO H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem focused on enhancing Pakistan’s position as a regional trade and transit hub through modern logistics infrastructure and improved connectivity.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem highlighted Pakistan’s strategic location amid global uncertainties, noting its direct access to China and Central Asia, the Arabian Sea, and extensive road and rail networks, according to the press release.

He described Pakistan as a natural hub linking key regional and inter-regional trade flows and reaffirmed that the UAE would continue close cooperation with the country.

President Zardari emphasized the government’s commitment to providing institutional facilitation and fast-track approvals for partner enterprises, and stressed long-term cooperation in rail freight modernization, inland logistics, and integrated freight corridors.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE was also present during the meeting.
