Pakistan, China vow deeper cooperation under All-Weather partnership

August 22, 2025: Pakistan and China reaffirmed their resolve to further deepen their All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership where both sides emphasized their ironclad friendship and commitment to regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity.

The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was received by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, assisted by Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and senior Cabinet members.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed appreciation for China’s consistent support in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national development.

 It was reaffirmed that Pakistan remains steadfast in supporting China on its core issues, while also committed to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, ICT, agriculture, industrialization, mines and minerals, and other key sectors.

The importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was highlighted as central to Pakistan’s socio-economic transformation and regional connectivity, with satisfaction expressed over the steady progress of Phase-II.

The meeting also reflected on President Xi Jinping’s visionary leadership and the deepening of ties through past high-level exchanges, while looking ahead to upcoming engagements in Tianjin and Beijing.

Later, President Asif Ali Zardari also hosted Foreign Minister Wang Yi at Aiwan-e-Sadr, where he was accompanied by senior Chinese officials.

The president emphasized that the friendship between Pakistan and China is the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy, enjoying unanimous public, political, and institutional support.

Looking forward, Pakistan expressed its intent to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2026 in a befitting manner, while passing on the finest traditions of this friendship to future generations.

The Chinese side reaffirmed its recognition of Pakistan as an ironclad friend and all-weather strategic partner while acknowledging Pakistan’s steadfast support to China at critical junctures.

It conveyed Beijing’s determination to elevate the relationship to new heights by working jointly for enhanced regional connectivity, economic integration, and sustainable development, ensuring that the Pakistan-China partnership continues to stand as a pillar of mutual trust, shared vision, and enduring cooperation.
