July 20, 2026 (MLN): More than 120 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), joint ventures, and commercial agreements worth over $1.7bn were signed between Pakistani and Chinese enterprises during the 6th Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference on Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology and Healthcare.

Pakistan's Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, shared the outcome on social media platform X, announcing the successful conclusion of the conference.

According to the ambassador, the agreements cover biotechnology, vaccines, biologics, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), medical devices, pharmaceuticals, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), clinical research, and other related healthcare sectors.

He described the conference as a landmark collaborative initiative developed by the Pakistan Embassy in China along with its four Consulates, according to APP.

Ambassador Hashmi said the event was held with the continued support of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Minister for National Health, and the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries.

He also acknowledged the role of the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (MNHSR&C), the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), the Board of Investment (BOI), the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), and representatives of the healthcare industries from Pakistan and China.

The ambassador noted that the conference has strengthened Pakistan-China cooperation by encouraging investment, technology transfer, industrial collaboration, and greater economic integration between the pharmaceutical sectors of both countries.

He added that follow-up efforts will begin soon to help convert the signed MoUs into binding contracts and commercial agreements, with the objective of turning these commitments into operational factories, manufacturing plants, and long-term investment projects.
