Pakistan, Brazil reaffirm defense cooperation

October 14, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Brazil have reaffirmed their resolve to expand defense ties, enhance institutional collaboration and promote professional exchanges between their armed forces.

A high-level Brazilian delegation headed by Chief of the Joint Staff Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire held separate meetings with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters in Islamabad.

During the meeting at Naval Headquarters, both sides discussed regional maritime security and explored avenues for expanding naval cooperation through professional training programmes, reciprocal visits and joint exercises, according to Radio Pakistan.

Admiral Freire acknowledged the Pakistan Navy’s Regional Maritime Security Patrols initiative and appreciated its role in promoting regional stability.

At Air Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu briefed the visiting delegation on the Pakistan Air Force’s modernization and indigenization initiatives, highlighting the integration of kinetic, space, cyber, artificial intelligence and electronic warfare capabilities.

The discussions underscored technological development and self-reliance as key priorities in strengthening the operational capabilities of the Pakistan Air Force.

Admiral Freire commended the professionalism and operational capabilities of both the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Air Force, reflecting the shared commitment to advancing defense cooperation between Pakistan and Brazil.
