Pakistan, Belarus boost bilateral ties

August 28, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Belarus reaffirmed their commitment to boosting cooperation in agriculture, industry and employment opportunities for skilled Pakistani workers during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov in Islamabad yesterday.

During the meeting, Kubrakov conveyed the best wishes of President Alexander Lukashenko and shared that his discussions with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain were highly productive.

Naqvi informed the Prime Minister that the Belarusian delegation also visited the National Database and Registration Authority.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain briefed that a memorandum of understanding was signed to facilitate the deployment of Pakistani workers to Belarus, which will ensure medical and social protection benefits for professionals.

Welcoming the delegation, Shehbaz Sharif recalled his earlier visit to Belarus, highlighting the agreements signed across multiple sectors and expressing satisfaction over the formalization of employment opportunities for Pakistani workers.

He also extended best wishes to President Lukashenko and said Pakistan looks forward to hosting him soon.

Kubrakov thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception and hospitality.
