Pakistan, Bangladesh agree to boost cooperation on overseas labour

February 2, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Bangladesh agreed to enhance cooperation on labour welfare, skills development and broader economic sectors during a meeting held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue 2026.

Both countries discussed common challenges faced by their overseas workers and exchanged best practices in vocational training, recruitment systems and reintegration of returning migrants.

The two sides also explored opportunities to expand bilateral collaboration in education, health, tourism and trade, while reaffirming their commitment to sustained engagement and structured dialogue on human resource development and labour export, according to a press release issued

The understanding emerged during talks between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Bangladesh’s Adviser to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment,  Dr. Asif Nazrul.

During the meeting, the Pakistani delegation highlighted the initiatives of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), while the Bangladeshi side outlined the operational framework of its Technical Training Centers.

Chairman of Pakistan’s Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) also briefed participants on the institution’s role in providing social protection to workers. Senior officials from the diplomatic missions of both countries in the UAE were present.
