Pakistan, Bahrain to ink MoUs on security

September 11, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Bahrain have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics, and immigration matters.

This was reached during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Bahrain’s Interior Minister General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa in Islamabad, said a press release issued yesterday.

Minister Naqvi emphasized that combating narcotics is a critical priority, describing it as an issue tied to the future of younger generations.

He noted that Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force has been delivering commendable results despite limited resources, including recoveries worth $146 million.

Bahrain’s Interior Minister expressed his country’s desire to strengthen relations with Pakistan across multiple sectors.

He said the establishment of a joint working group and the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) would help institutionalize cooperation.

Delegation-level talks were also held between the two sides, where detailed discussions covered avenues for enhanced collaboration.

Both countries agreed to form a joint working group and move towards signing MoUs in areas such as counter-narcotics, extradition and mutual legal assistance, police training, and special battalion training.
