Pakistan, Austria trade and investment growth in focus

February 16, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Austria are set to enhance bilateral cooperation as  Pakistan’s Prime Minister arrived in Vienna on a two-day official visit focused on strengthening diplomatic relations, expanding trade and investment opportunities, and promoting collaboration on sustainable development and global peace efforts.

A ceremonial reception was held at Vienna International Airport where an Austrian Armed Forces contingent presented a salute upon his arrival, according to APP.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister.

During the visit, he will hold bilateral and delegation-level meetings with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker.

The two leaders will co-chair a meeting of leading businessmen to boost investment between the two countries.

The Prime Minister will also address the Pakistan-Austria Business Forum, attend a United Nations event in Vienna titled “Sustainable Development, the Path to Global Peace and Prosperity,” and meet the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
